Overview

Addressing concerns about teen driving safety, I lead the design for a system that allows parents to monitor driving behaviors and provide constructive feedback. Dashboards and alerts were central to the experience.

Showing what type of permissions the teen driver might experience in the vehicle. Ideal was simplification was less distractions. Example car won't start without seat belt engaged.

Reinforcing the positive behavior through achievements and rewards for safe driving. 

Objectives

  • Promote safe driving habits among teenage drivers.
  • Provide parents with tools to monitor and guide their teens.
  • Reduce incidents of risky driving behaviors.
  • Help lowering cost of insurance based on good driving habits

Key Feature

  • Driving Behavior Monitoring: Tracks metrics such as speed, braking, and acceleration.
  • Parental Alerts: Notifies parents of unsafe driving events in real-time.
  • Driver Score: Provides a safety score based on driving performance.
  • Educational Resources: Offers tips and tutorials to encourage safer driving practices.

Outcome

If this feature would have been implemented it could improve driving behaviors, with a 30% reduction in risky driving incidents among teen users. This was an innovation project to show that value.
